BIOGRAPHY

Brian Kipkorir is a vital cog in the firm’s commercial and dispute resolution activities. While his expertise is in general corporate and commercial law, he is well steeped in capital markets, financial services, and commercial dispute resolution – the firm’s main practice areas. He has also been involved in the review of documents in M&A and corporate re-organisations. This experience allows him to deliver pragmatic solutions to complex client problems. Over the years, Brian has gained experience in areas that advance the firm’s breadth of practice, such as Immigration and Projects. His proudest contributions include business development and client re-engagements. His ambition is to use his legal skills and knowledge towards the common good.

Brian holds a Bachelor of Laws degree (LL. B) from Strathmore University and a Post-graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. He is currently completing his CS and an LL.M.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advised Cytonn Asset Managers Limited on the Registration of Unit Trusts with the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) as well as drafting and reviewing unit trust incorporation documents.
  • Acted as legal advisor for various Fund Managers in the review and structuring of the Incorporation Documents for the purpose of setting up an Umbrella Pension Fund, Individual Pension Plan, and Income Draw-Down Plan in line with the Retirement Benefits Act and Regulations.
  • Advised on the restructuring and purchase of various companies;
  • Was part of the legal team that advised a large real estate company on the structuring of a complex mixed-use development in Kenya.
  • Part of the team that advised a leading local insurance company in the establishment of a BOOT solar power system in South Sudan.
