Sally G. Kamau

Sally has advised on significant infrastructure and investment transactions across the region. Her experience includes advising the proponent of the USD 3.5 billion Nairobi–Mombasa Expressway PPP on project structuring, land acquisition strategy, and negotiation of the Project Development Agreement with government stakeholders. She also served as lead local counsel to the Kenya Innovative Finance Facility for Water (KIFFWA), a EUR 20 million water investment fund, advising on loan documentation, security structuring, joint development agreements, and regulatory compliance. Her project experience further encompasses hydropower development, solar project financing, and the structuring of public-private partnerships for major infrastructure facilities.
Her corporate and finance practice includes acquisitions, joint ventures, intercreditor arrangements, debt-to-equity conversions, and cross-border secured financings. She led a USD 1 billion debt financing for a London-based lender involving a Kenyan borrower and has advised on multi-jurisdictional transactions involving complex security arrangements and regulatory requirements, including applications and filings before the Competition Authority of Kenya.

Sally also brings substantial experience in legal and regulatory policy development. She was a stakeholder advising the Presidential Taskforce on the review of Power Purchase Agreements and successfully advanced proposals that were incorporated into Kenya’s carbon markets regulations.
Before joining KN Law LLP as a Partner, Sally held senior legal and leadership roles, including Senior Legal Counsel at Tatu City Limited, Director of the Energy and Projects Department at Ashitiva Advocates LLP, and Acting Head of the Corporate-Commercial Department at Ashitiva Advocates LLP. During her tenure at Ashitiva Advocates LLP, she was named Rainmaker of the Year in 2022 and 2023 in recognition of being the firm’s highest fee-earner in each respective year.
Sally holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. She is a Certified Legal Auditor and a trained mediator.
